Sec Butyl Acetate, also known as s-Butyl Acetate, is one of the isomers of n-Butyl Acetate.
Applications:
- Used as a paint solvent.
- Sec Butyl Acetate has similar properties to n-Butyl Acetate and Isobutyl Acetate. It can dissolve various materials and can be used as a substitute for n-Butyl Acetate and Isobutyl Acetate in dissolving nitrocellulose, lacquer, acrylic paint, and polyurethane paint.
- Used as a fast-drying agent for optical materials, capable of dissolving Cellulose Acetate Butyrate (CAB).
- Used as a solvent in resin synthesis.
- Used as a diluent, making it an ideal component for cost reduction and lower toxicity in diluent production, such as in Tiana and banana oil.
- Used in printing inks, serving as a volatile solvent for inks and as an alternative to n-Butyl Acetate.
- Used in the pharmaceutical industry, particularly in the production of penicillin.
