2. Applications

  • N-Propyl acetate is widely used as a solvent in the paint and printing ink industry due to its high solubility for various resins, fast evaporation rate, and mild odor. These properties are essential in manufacturing and processing different products in these industries.
  • Another significant characteristic of N-Propyl acetate is its solubility and dilution capacity, which is comparable to Ethyl Acetate.
  • This solvent can dissolve a variety of synthetic and natural resins, such as NC (nitrocellulose), acrylates, alkyl resins, rosin, plasticizers, waxes, oils, and greases. Therefore, it is highly suitable for wood lacquers and industrial finishing paints.
  • N-Propyl acetate is primarily used in silk screen printing inks and Flexo printing inks.
  • It is also one of the volatile acetates used in aerosols that do not contain chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs).
